Privacy policy - Cadence

In short

This app collects no data.

We run no server, and the app sends us nothing. It contains no user account, no advertising, no analytics and no third-party development kit. The only network exchange it causes is the one Apple performs for the subscription, described below.

What the app stores, and where

Everything is written to your device only, in the storage area reserved for the app:

A workout in progress, on the other hand, is not stored: it lives in memory for as long as it lasts. Closing the app mid-workout loses it, and nothing of it remains on disk.

Should your workouts file ever become unreadable, the app sets it aside under another name, in the same place, rather than overwriting it: your workouts stay recoverable. That file goes no further either, and disappears with the app.

This information never leaves the device. We have no access to it.

Sound, voice and haptics

The app never requests microphone access: it produces sound, it does not record any. The spoken countdown is uttered by the iOS speech synthesiser, on your device, without any text being sent anywhere.

During a workout, the app keeps a silent audio track alive: that is what lets it keep counting and speaking with the screen locked and the phone in your pocket. That track serves no other purpose.

Lock screen and Dynamic Island

The current phase, exercise and countdown can appear on your lock screen and in the Dynamic Island. That display is rendered by iOS on your device, from the current workout’s information alone. It disappears when the workout ends.

The Cadence Pro subscription

The purchase happens entirely at Apple, through your App Store account. We never see your payment method, your name or your address: the app receives from Apple only the information “this subscription is active or not”.

Apple’s handling of your data on that occasion falls under Apple’s privacy policy, not this one.

Third-party services

None. The app embeds no third-party development kit, no ad network and no analytics tool, and performs no advertising tracking.

Backups

If you have enabled iCloud backup on your iPhone, the app’s data may be included, as with your other apps. That backup is managed by Apple under its own terms; we have no access to it.

Deleting your data

Deleting the app erases all of the data it has stored. You can also delete a workout from within the app, which erases it for good.

Children

The app collects no data, including from children. It is rated 9+ on the App Store, on account of health or wellness themes - not of any data collection.

Changes

Any change to this policy will be published on this page, with an updated revision date.
